Facebook acquiring WhatsApp for $16bilion

In the most interesting news is the announcement of Facebook buying the messaging app WhatsApp for a total of $16Billion, in cash and stock and the co-founder and CEO Jan Koum of the messaging service shall also take a seat at the board of directors of Facebook.

The announcement came out today from Facebook that WhatsApp would be taken over and a total sum of $16 Billion in parts of $4Billion as Cash and another $12Billion in Stock of Facebook shall be issued while another $3 Billion in restricted Stock units shall also be available to be invested over a period of 4 years and if for any reason there occurs a cancellation of partnership then Facebook would be liable to pay a breakup fee of $2Billion in Cash and stock to WhatsApp.

WhatsApp is one of the big guns of the mobile messaging sector with roughly 450 million monthly active users and adds approximately 1 million users everyday and almost competes with the Global SMS volume, FaceBook stated.

On a note of Facebook buying WhatsApp there have been iterations and reiterations from both the companies that WhatsApp shall remain independent and work individually and this buyout shall in no way make anything different from the user perspective and this would only be a partnership for the betterment of both the companies and the overall advancement.
